Tested: “Welcome To Your Perfect Home” Big Box
5. September 2024 Hobbies & Leisure / Pegasus

Plan, plan, build houses! In “Welcome To Your Perfect Home”, you are the construction manager of a new residential area. Pegasus has now launched the Big Box with all the expansions and we were curious and started a test run for you.

If you are not yet familiar with the game principle, this flip’n’write game is all about building houses strategically by assigning house numbers and carrying out possible actions in order to score as many points as possible at the end.
The content of the game basically consists of building cards, guideline cards and the wipeable game boards, for which you are supplied with non-permanent pens.
This means you can play “Welcome To Your Perfect Home” as often as you like.
There is also a solo mode for single players and an advanced version for ambitious players.

Each round consists of five phases: Reveal building cards, select combination of building card and action, enter house number on the game board, carry out action and evaluate default cards.
However, the last two steps are not a must.
The building cards provide you with possible house numbers and actions, while the guideline cards give you certain house combinations and effects which – if fulfilled – will earn you additional points at the end.
You can carry out the five game phases simultaneously, so you don’t have to wait for each other.
If you have already fulfilled the content of a requirement card after a few rounds, you can evaluate it directly and then continue building diligently.

Because we were in the mood for some extra action, we opted for the “Zombie Apocalypse” expansion in our test.
Not only do you have to build houses and fulfill requirements, but you also have to protect yourself from approaching zombie hordes that will storm your beautiful new buildings if you don’t stop them.
You have two different means at your disposal to do this: Ammunition and barricades.
So make sure you always have one of the two at your disposal, because the zombie cards are randomly shuffled among the building cards and can catch you off guard at any time.
Once a domicile has become the new home of the undead, it is lost and can no longer be used as a potential part of a worthwhile housing complex.

In addition to Zombie Apocalypse, these other expansions are also available: Blueprint, Egg Hunt, Ice Cream Truck, Halloween, Christmas Glow, Doomsday, Alien Invasion, The Lost Ducklings and American Dream.
And for Harry Potter fans, the inventors have come up with something special… After it became known that actor Daniel Radcliffe is a big fan of the game, an additional mode called “Track 9 ¾” was added.
The Big Box contains special cards featuring Harry’s owl Hedwig.

So if you’re already a fan of the “Welcome To” series, you’ll get your money’s worth here too. Thanks to the many expansions, long-lasting fun and plenty of variety are guaranteed. A clear recommendation from us!
