The name “Elznir” is made up of “Elztal”, the region in which the company is based, and “Fafnir”, a dragon from Norse mythology. Its logo symbolically shows a small dragon with a dice and is a tribute to the Heidelberger Spieleverlag publishing house, from which Elznir Games emerged.
